Gundam, one of the most influential and successful Japanese entertainment properties in the world, is celebrating its 45th Anniversary with the opening of a permanent G-Base Store located in London’s Camden Market.

Originally launched in 1979, Gundam revolutionised the mecha genre through its realistic storytelling, military-inspired robot design and more mature themes, helping to establish anime as a global force within popular culture.

Detailed Gundam model kit displayed on a stand against a light grey background, featuring white armour, navy blue accents, yellow highlights and an oversized backpack weapon system, showcasing the intricate design and craftsmanship of the Mobile Suit Gundam series.

Today, Gundam represents far more than just anime, having become a globally recognised symbol of Japanese creativity, design and fandom culture. This once niche category is now a solid part of mainstream culture, so why not come along and see what it’s all about?

The new store will open at midday on Friday 3rd July.
