Koji Yoshimura, founder of the Tokyo label HLVTC, is gathering independent designers, artists and makers in Daikanyama on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November 2026. HYPER HYPER: Tokyo Underground Collective opens from midday until 9pm on both days at ZA SPACE DAIKANYAMA, and entry is free with no reservation needed.

Most stalls are run by the people who made the work, so a visitor can ask a designer about the cut of a jacket, or an artist about a collage, before buying anything. Speciality coffee, desserts and a nail artist share the room with the clothes.

Named After Hyper Hyper, the Kensington High Street Designer Market

The event borrows its name from London. Hyper Hyper was a design collective and shop on Kensington High Street which, according to the Victoria and Albert Museum’s collection records, launched in 1983 to give young designers an outlet for their work, and closed in 1999.

The V&A lists Pam Hogg, Dexter Wong and Ghost among the designers associated with it. Announcing the 2026 edition, the Tokyo organisers say they want to carry the free and experimental spirit of that 1980s market into present day Tokyo.
