This is a brand new official symphonic tour from AWR Music Productions and Square Enix, the team behind the much loved Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy and NieR:Orchestra Concert. For London, the all new programme draws from some of the most beloved scores in video game history, including Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Legend of Mana, NieR and Octopath Traveler, with more woven through the evening.
These are beyond background tracks. For millions of players, this is the music of late nights, first adventures and worlds that felt like home. Hearing it performed live, in full orchestral scale, is a chance to feel all of that again with the volume turned up.
The worlds on the programme: What to Expect
The full setlist is kept under wraps until the night, but the London programme draws from some of the most loved soundtracks Square Enix has produced. Here is a sense of the worlds you can expect to hear.
- Final Fantasy. The series that helped define the genre, and the catalogue most closely tied to legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu. Expect music fans know by heart, from the gentle Prelude and the triumphant victory fanfare to the operatic weight of the series at its grandest. Few game soundtracks have travelled as far beyond the games themselves.
- Kingdom Hearts. The much loved crossover of Square Enix heroes and Disney worlds, scored by Yoko Shimomura, who will be in the room on the night. Its themes, led by the wistful “Dearly Beloved,” carry a particular emotional charge for the generation that grew up with the series. For many in the audience, this will be the heart of the evening.
- Chrono Trigger. A 1995 time-travelling adventure still regularly named among the greatest games ever made. Its score, largely the work of Yasunori Mitsuda, runs from the soaring main theme to the bittersweet “Frog’s Theme” and the dreamlike “Corridors of Time.”
- NieR. Home to one of the most distinctive sounds in modern gaming, built on haunting vocals sung in invented languages. The NieR scores are known for atmosphere, and hearing pieces like “Weight of the World” carried by full orchestra and choir amplifies this.
- Legend of Mana. A lush, painterly entry in the Mana series, and another Shimomura score. Its music is gentle and pastoral, full of warmth, quieter than the bigger orchestral set pieces.
- Octopath Traveler. The most recent world on the list, a 2018 release celebrated for its striking HD-2D art and Yasunori Nishiki’s sweeping, character-led themes. This is proof that the tradition of memorable Square Enix music is still very much alive.

The evening is led by renowned conductor Arnie Roth, a name familiar to anyone who has followed Square Enix concerts over the years. He is joined by The Novello Orchestra and the Coro Spezzato choir, bringing symphonic weight to scores often first heard through a television speaker.
Above the stage, high definition game visuals from Square Enix play along with the music. The sweeping arrangements and the imagery together turn familiar themes into something cinematic and shared, surrounded by thousands of people who know every note.
A rare appearance from Yoko Shimomura
This London date stands out, as legendary composer Yoko Shimomura will be in attendance.
