The Yoshihiro Usuba Bocho Japanese Knife 160mm is a superb quality Japanese kitchen knife. It is made from stain-resistant Damascus steel with a super smooth mahogany wood handle.

The blade has a hardness Rockwell C scale of 57. Usuba, which means thin blade, has been sharpened on one side; a style known as kataba in Japanese which allows for the cutting of thinner slices but requires more skill to use.

These Japanese kitchen knives have a beautiful wood grain effect on the blade called senbon kurokaki; which means one in a thousand black persimmon trees. And regarded as the most valuable wood and was presented to Japanese emperors in ancient times. The Yoshihiro Usuba Bocho Japanese Knife 160mm is an ideal Japanese gift for an enthusiastic amateur or professional chef!

  • Note: To get the best from your knife they recommend that you never wash it in the dishwasher, wipe it dry after use to prevent rusting, and always use sharpening stones to sharpen or hone your knife. This bladed product is not for sale to people under the age of 18.

Please note the following important and helpful points;

  • Delivery prices include postage and packing, irrespective of how large or small your order is.
  • Quoted transit times are on working days and therefore do not include Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays.
  • If you require next day delivery please submit your order before 2 pm as orders received after this time may not be dispatched until the following day and therefore may incur an additional day in transit.

For all next day delivery orders we use a 'signed for' service (Royal Mail Special Delivery, DHL or Parcelforce 24) so if you do order this service please ensure that someone is at the delivery address the following day who can sign to receive your order.

If you would prefer us to deliver your gift directly to the recipient simply complete their address details on the checkout order form and we send your order to them and the receipt to you. We can also deliver to both a UK Post Office Box and to a BFPO address.

We use a range of services from the Royal Mail, DHL and Parcelforce to affect our delivery service. We will email you to confirm the despatch of your order and, if we have used a tracked service, we will advise you of the company that we have used for delivery as well as the consignment reference number. If you are not home when the driver attempts to deliver, a card will be left for you to either go to the delivery office to collect your order or to contact the delivery office and arrange for the re-delivery at a date to suit you.


The Islands and Highlands

Please note that we do not charge extra for delivery to Northern Ireland, the Scilly Isles, the Channel Islands or the Scottish Highlands, however, we do recommend that you allow an extra couple of days for delivery to these destinations.


International Delivery

We warmly welcome international customers and are very experienced in safely packing and sending orders to customers in over 50 countries, including Japan! The international delivery service provided by our delivery partners (Royal Mail, DHL and Parcelforce) is offered to you on Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) terms. This means that you or the recipient of your order pays any Customs Duty, VAT and Customs clearance fees on receipt/collection of the item. Please note these fees will vary country by country.

If you place an order which requires delivery to a country where we are not confident about the reliability of the national postal service, we reserve the right to re-quote the delivery charge for using a carrier with a more secure signed-for service. This includes the Middle East, Africa, China, India and other countries in Asia and South East Asia.

We do not currently deliver to Afghanistan, Angola, Belarus, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Nigeria, North Korea, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen and Zimbabwe.

To track orders with Royal Mail (13 digit reference numbers beginning with DW, ZJ or RI), please click on Royal Mail Tracking. Royal Mail also has an automated telephone answering delivery tracking service on telephone no 0845 7740 740.

To track orders with DHL (which uses a 10 digit numerical reference number), please click on DHL Tracking. DHL also have a telephone answering delivery tracking service on telephone number 0844 248 0844.

To track orders with Parcelforce (who use reference numbers beginning with PBJG), please click on Parcelforce Tracking. Parcelforce also has a telephone answering delivery tracking service on telephone number 0844 800 4466.

Refund Policy


We carefully quality control check all of our products and are extremely careful to ensure that sufficient packing is used to keep your gift safe in transit.

However, if your order is damaged or faulty please accept our very sincere apologies and email us as soon as possible after receipt and we will collect the items and arrange a refund or exchange whichever you prefer.

Cancellation / Return / Exchange Policy

Simple, FAST and FREE Returns

We want you to be delighted with your new Japanese gifts so if for any reason you are not completely satisfied, please email us requesting an exchange or refund within 28 days. To arrange a return it could not be more simple!

For most returns we use a pre-paid Royal Mail Tracked Service, you do not need to pay anything, but please follow these guidelines;


Stating that you would like a return and we will post you a Royal Mail Tracked Returns label which should arrive the next day.


Carefully, safely and where possible in the original packaging, include a copy of your original order and a note explaining your new requirements.


Affix the delivery label from Royal Mail to the package and simply drop it off at any Post Office!

Ordering from overseas? No problem, just email us and we'll arrange a return with DHL Worldwide Express!

Extended Christmas Returns Policy? Orders placed between October 1 and December 31 can be returned until January 31, but please make sure that your order is still returned with the original packing and in a re-saleable condition.


If you would like to exchange an item simply return the item as per the above instructions. If you wish to exchange the product for a more expensive item, you must arrange additional payment together with the returned product.

A replacement product will not be despatched until such additional payment has been received. If you wish to exchange the gift for a cheaper item we will refund the difference.
