Let’s face it—we could all do with a little more good luck these days. The maneki-neko (招き猫) means “beckoning cat” in Japanese and is a good-luck figure thought to bring good luck or fortune to the owner and is often found in the entranceways of shops.
The kanji characters 千万両 are read as “sen man ryo,” meaning “ten million gold pieces.”
